ABOUT ROBERT FENICHIU
GAFFER | LIGHTING THE FRAME, ELEVATING THE STORY
With over 15 years of on-set experience and more than 5 years specializing as a Gaffer, I have shaped the light for a vast portfolio of over 200 music videos, 100 commercials, and multiple international feature films. This portfolio offers a glimpse into my work and my approach to shaping light.
My journey began at the age of 17 in the fast-paced world of live events, where I mastered electrical systems, rigging, and stage lighting under real-world pressure. Fifteen years ago, I stepped onto a film set for the first time and instantly knew I had found my place. I started as an electrician and explored the grip department, but my true passion has always been lighting—not just for its technical challenge, but for its emotional power.
I believe light is more than just exposure; it is a vital narrative tool. My approach combines precision, speed, and a deep sensitivity to the director's and DoP’s vision. I am committed to the quality of every frame, bringing a focused and dedicated work ethic to high-profile productions such as Wednesday (Netflix), The Contractor, Voyagers, and The Princess Switch.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & TOOLS
As a gaffer, my role is to translate the DoP’s vision into clean, controlled, expressive lighting. I’ve developed a workflow built on precision, communication, and fast problem-solving.
• Lighting Systems & Workflow: I choose the right solution quickly to deliver the look the DoP wants without losing time on set.
• Console & Control Systems: Advanced programming with BlackOut and Chamsys consoles for precise control of all fixtures.
• Video & LED Integration: I use Resolume Arena for mapping and real-time synchronization between lighting and video.
• Rigging & Safety: Specialized in complex truss/grid structures, ensuring stability and clean cable management.
• Leadership: I keep the workflow clear, efficient, and calm—helping the entire production move forward smoothly.
